Hudson Islanders at CPP 9/7/23 to 9/14/23

22 Hudson Islanders met with their 13 RVs at Croton Point's RV Campground (CPP) for the week of Thursday,  September 7th through the 14th. I spent the week prior at the campground but the day came when all campers for the Labor Day weekend had to vacate leaving a lonely landscape of campsites.

For a change, I thought I'd include the RVs of our members in attendance. The numbers refer to the sites they occupied. For those not into motorhomes, they are categorized into "classes." Here's a comparison:

Site        Name

11    -    Pat & Jim

31' Class A

12    -    Melanie & Dan

34' Fifth Wheel

14    -    Martine & John

26' Class C

16    -    Bearnice & Bob

36' Class A

17    -    Roberta & Erve

40' Class A

21    -    Nina & John

31' Class A

33    -    Larry

25' Class C

34    -    Kathy & Ray

40' Class A

35    -    Charlie

25' Class C

36    -    Roberta

35' Class A

38    -    Doreen & Tony
38' Class A

39    -    Fran & Walter

42' Class A

20    -    Johnny

Johnny hadn't arrived when I took the photos so I'm using an oldie on the day of his purchase of his 34' Class A

Lounging 101: Doreen, Jim, Pat, Nina

The large get togethers were at the Friday's Meet & Greet, Saturday's Pot Luck Supper and the nightly campfires. This week, the circle around the campfire was wide thanks to the crowd that showed up. Still, the warmth of friendship and camaraderie was present.

President Tony was the 50-50 raffle winner. Surprisingly, and contrary to popular belief, the money was still in his pocket the next morning. Congrats on both achievements.

L. to R. Tony, Steve, Dan, John Sr. Ray and Johnny Jr.
One of the many highlights of the RV experience is getting together with fellow RVers at morning coffee get-togethers. We gather at my site between 7:30 and 8:00 am daily. Some notes to accompany this photo: 1) The rare appearance of  Tony before 9 am; 2) Missing are frequent visitors, John C and Walter.

The value of having tall friends

On our last night together, seventeen of us descended on Pronto Pizzeria in Croton for dinner with one server working the entire room. She did an excellent job.

My small plain cheese. A taste treat that hit the spot with a cold Peroni. Thin crusted and delicious. I asked to have it sliced into six pieces; I'm trying to cut back as eight slices would have been too much.

Thanks for joining me. The next and last get-together for those members who were successful in the Reserve América lottery will be at Fishermens Memorial State Park in Narragansett, Rhode Island. See you there.

Hi there Charlie, yes, a very lonely landscape once the summer crowd left. Was it spookie at night? or just plain old cozy? Oh, Pronto Pizza looked good and it's in Croton. Never heard of it but looks like a nice pizzeria and the pizza looked oh so good. Good luck tomorrow, the 19th, I think. Hugs, sjg

    1. Thank you SJG, Yes, tomorrow is #2 and the lonely landscape filled rapidly even after we all left. And isn't amazing how any and all photos of delicious pizza look inviting and tasty. It's the same with sushi.

Thank you for memoralizing our September rally. Good friends and good times drown out the inclement weather. We tipped toed through the rain drops....sort of. It always amazes me how many dedicated members we have; always willing to join in the scheduled events. Even with the heavy rain, every coach was represented at the Saturday pot luck--food in hand and getting wet under the e-z ups. Of course, the men totally enjoy your coffee clutch in the early morning. So do their wives--some alone time :-). See you soon Charlie in Rhode Island!!
